James A. Wiech, 80, of Lake City, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester on January 14, 2021.
Jim was born on October 21, 1940, to George & Dolores (Stumpf) Wiech in Red Wing, MN. He grew up in Frontenac and graduated from Lincoln High School. Jim
joined the Navy after high school and served for 4 years. He married his wife, Helen Roberts on May 29, 1970 in Watertown SD. They have lived in Lake City since 1970. Jim was a tax preparer for 17 years and worked at Thomas & Betts (Meyer’s Industry) as a tool crib operator for 27 years until he retired. Jim was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Frontenac and Lake City. He was on the Church Council for 15 years and held the office of Church Treasurer. He was a softball league coach for the church softball team for 13 years. Jim was on a local Bowling League and held the office of Secretary and Treasurer for many years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Helen; his daughters, Debie (Dean) West of Minneapolis, Dawn (John) Worely of Niceville, FL; his sons, Jeff Eyrich of New Hope, MN., Jay (Debbie) Eyrich of CA; his 2 step-sons, Lyle (Beth) Jacobsen of Wabasha, MN., Darin Jacobsen of Lake City, MN.; 14 Grandchildren; many Great Grandchildren; sisters, Jacquelyn (Richard) Solheim of Red Wing, MN., Janice Foss of Alaska; brother, Jon (Gloria) Wiech of Old Frontenac, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Jacobsen, and brother, Jerry Wiech.
A private service will be held on Thursday , January 21, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating. A walk-through visitation will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021, from 5pm to 7pm at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel of Lake City. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. The service will be live streamed on Thursday at 11am on the Mahn Family Funeral Home Facebook Page. Masks and social distancing are required.
