James Calvin Stee

June 20, 1956 — February 21, 2010

James (Jim) Calvin Stee, age 53, died Sunday, February 21, 2010, at his home in Zumbrota. He was born on June 20, t956, to Calvin and Iva Mae Stee. He attended school in Zumbrota, after which he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he was stationed in England and participated in the evacuation of American civilian and military personnel and South Vietnamese citizens from Saigon at the end ofthe Vietnam War.
After discharge from the Air Force he became a member of the Minnesota National Guard and continued to serve his country proudly. Among his many services, he recently had two deployments in Iraq, returning from the second deployment in April 2009. During his first deployment he was with the 134th Red Bull Infantry Division, and during his second deployment he was with the 834th Aviation Unit.

Jim was an avid reader. His interests also included golfing and motorcycling. He appreciated all types of music and the enrichment it brought. He loved animals, particularly his cat Woody. Jim was a member ofthe Rochester Masonic Lodge, the Osman Shrine, and the Merry Medics Shrine Club. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Calvin. He is survived by his mother, Iva Mae Stee, and his three brothers, Jonathan (LeAnn Nelson), Samuel, and Timothy Stee, his niece, Hilde Ann Stee, and his nephew, Jonathan Nelson Stee. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted friends.

Visitation is scheduled at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ofZumbrota on Friday, February 26, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be at United Redeemer Lutheran Church at 3 :00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010, with visitation an hour before the service. Burial at the Zumbrota Cemetery with full military honors will immediately follow the church service.
