James Andrew Schenk

July 13, 1935 — January 8, 2013

James Schenk, age 77 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Lake City. He was born in Quakertown, PA on July 13, 1935, to Oliver Wendel "Tom" and Vida "Breezy" (Davis) Schenk. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Alabama on a football scholarship. On September 21, 1963, he married Mitzi Meyer and they later divorced. Jim drove truck out east for a little while until moving to MN. He then began trucking for Bunny Bread, Len Parish Trucking, and LCL Transit Co. Jim then became the Secretary Treasurer for the Teamsters Local 160. On November 8, 2003 he married Dorothy Mark o (Northey) at the Little Brown Church in IA, and they moved to Lake City. After retiring he began driving for the Hiawatha Transit for seven years, where was able to visit with the riders and enjoy driving pre-school kids. He belonged to the United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed snowmobiling, watching football, NASCAR, and drag races. He also enjoyed working, visiting with people, drinking coffee and eating pie.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Lake City; daughter, Teresa (Jim) Baldus of Austin; grandchildren, Brianna, Ryan (Sarah); great-grandson Connor; step-children Stacey (Craig) Bolton of Rosemount, Tiffany (Jon) Voth of Goodhue, McKenzie (Blake) Sagdalen of Rochester; step-grandchildren, Avery and Collin Bolton, Elliott and Charlotte Voth; sisters, Brian Elizabeth Coleman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Penelope Schenk of Oxford, UK; brothers, OW (Rosie) Schenk of Newark, VT and Erick Schenk of Charleston, SC; niece Nina Davis and her son, Tomasso; special people, Mitzi Schenk of Austin and Karen (Jim) Blue of Red Wing, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents Vida "Breezy" and OW "Tom" Schenk; son, Tom Schenk; step-granddaughter, Josey Claire; Uncle Nelson; and his dogs, Jamie and Mantha Mae.
