James Paul Rust, 63, of Lake City, died unexpectedly, on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Lake City. He was born February 26, 1954 in Glenwood, Minnesota to Henry and Irene (Miller) Rust and attended school in Minneapolis. He met his wife Donna in 1973, and the two were married on June 13, 1987 and they lived in St. Louis Park, until most recently, when they moved to Lake City in February of 2016.
James was always smiling--he was kind, giving and was always there to help his family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing sports and was a true Minnesota sports fan throughout his life-Go Vikings! In his free time, he enjoyed throwing a line in the water and if the fish weren't biting, he could always turn on the WWE "Smackdown" and take in his favorite wrestling show.
James is survived by his wife, Donna of Lake City; 2 sons, James Rust of Minneapolis and Jeremy (Shalha) Rust of New Hope; 2 grandchildren, Jaelyn and Mariah; siblings, Theresa (Harlan) Anderson of Bloomington, Roger (Lynn) Rust of White Bear Lake, Marie Ghant of Alexandria, David (Sandra) Rust of Minneapolis and Barbara (Marc) Anderson of Alexandria and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father in law.
A visitation for James will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, 1022 West Lyon Ave, Lake City.
