James R. Robbins

James Ray Robbins, 72, of Red Wing, Minnesota and formerly of Marshall, Missouri, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Seminary Home in Red Wing. He was born June 18, 1941, in Marshall, Missouri, to Ray and Marie (Fleming) Robbins. His family moved to Livingston, Montana where he grew up and graduated from high school. After high school he entered the US Air Force in 1961and retired from the military as a Master Sergeant in 1981. During that time he was united in marriage to Glee Hauge on August 28, 1965. Following his military career, he and his family moved to Marshall, Missouri where he was employed with Marshall Municipal Utilities, Water Department for 25 years, until his retirement. In July of 2011, he and Glee relocated to Red Wing. James was a member of United Lutheran Church in Red Wing and former member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshall. An outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake as well as being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Glee of Red Wing; two children, Michelle Robbins of Dallas, Texas and Mark (DeeAnn) Robbins of Red Wing; a sister, Betty (Dr. Edward) Peake of California; a niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing, with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the United Lutheran or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church music programs.
