James Ray

James Raymond Ray, 80, of Hager City, died Sunday at his home. He was born July 24, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Marie (Riechert) Ray. He grew up and attended school in the Chicago area. He married Ruth Donovan on July 8, 1972 in Chicago and they moved to Ellsworth. They later moved to Hager City. He was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed buying and selling at flea markets, playing guitar, singing and country music.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three children, Odette Glasny of Marinette, Wisconsin, Robert (Jenny) of Marinette, Michigan and Dawn Hansen of Brooklyn Center; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four siblings, Pat (William A.) Baeten of Richfield, Ted (Fran) Ray of Chicago, Darlene Ray of Chicago and Peggy (Carlos) Isabell of Ridge Manor, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, LaVerne and Judy.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Lynne Rigg officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
