James "Jim" McCabe, age 51, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Bayview Nursing Home in Red Wing. He was born October 11, 1968 in Beloit, WI to James Leslie and Susan Elizabeth (Mazanet) McCabe. In 1986 he graduated from West Grant High School and then went on to attend the University of Wisconsin in Platteville for 2 years. In 1989 he married Pam Prochaska and they had a son, James Jr.. They later divorced. He worked at various grocery stores and most recently at Duluth Trading Company. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and searching for morel mushrooms. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan, and really enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog Bo.
He is survived by his son, James Jr. of Maiden Rock, WI; sister, Tami (Justin) Billeter of Ellsworth, WI; two nieces, Ava and Isabel Billeter and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Susan; maternal grandparents, John and Marian Mazanet; paternal grandparents, James and Velma McCabe; uncle, Jim Mazanet; cousin, Jennifer McCabe. Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Deacon Pat Evans officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service.
