James Alan Hastings

August 2, 1950 — June 25, 2020

James Hastings, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on June 25, 2020 of brain cancer.
James was born August 2, 1950, in Austin, MN to Bruce & Beverly (Tomlinson) Hastings. On May 3 1975, he married Charlene Lastine and they moved to Marshalltown, IA., where he worked for Fisher Controls Int'l for 34 years.
While residing in Iowa he belonged to Full Moon Lodge #561 in Melbourne, IA., Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Altoona, IA. He was also active in Abate (Dist. 6) in the 80's and 90's. He loved talking to everyone. He was up for trying and doing anything (camping, fishing, skydiving), but his passion was motorcycles. He loved working, building and riding them. He was a Lehman Trike Dealer (Trikes Plus) and built many trikes for people. He also made his yearly trek to bike week in Sturgis, SD for forty years.
James is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlene; his daughter, Jamie Hastings of Marshalltown, IA; his grandson, Justin Giannetto of Colorado; his mother, Beverly Tremblay of Brooksville, FL.; his brothers, Bruce (Donella) Hastings, Larry Hastings, Gary Hastings all of Austin, MN.; his sister, Pam (Ron) Marsolek of Eagle Bend, MN. And many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Bruce Hastings Sr. and his brother David Hastings. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
There will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life at a later date in Marshalltown, IA. Condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 90, Lake City, MN. 55041. Online condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Also, a huge thank you to hospice in Red Wing, MN. For all their help these last 9 months. I could never have done it without them. A special thank you to his favorite nurse Kay. Also, to family and friends for all their visits, phone calls and cards.
