James "Jim" Eric Brown, age 54, of Red Wing, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Mayo Health Care System. He was born on February 19, 1963 in Minneapolis to Helen and Manley Brown. After graduating from high school, Jim started working for Proact. In his free time, Jim enjoyed playing video games (especially Nintendo) and watching Vikings football. However, his biggest hobby was swimming and competing in track in the Special Olympics. He won many medals in the Special Olympics that he was very proud of. He was active in boy scouts where he did many activities and even got to travel to Washington, D.C. to meet the President. Jim was always a proud resident of Red Wing, living in Red Wing for around 40 years.
He is survived by his daughters, June and Jorgetta Brown Stensrud; brother, Mark (Betty) Brown; sister, Janie Saxton; niece, Sarah Colbert; nephews, Rich (Kristen) Brown and Gary "JR" Brown; many great nieces and nephews; and good friend, Karen Freier.
He is preceded by his parents and his past-wife, Bernice
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Brian Beavers officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. the day of the service.
