Jacob J. Johnson

August 10, 2007 — June 15, 2015

Jacob Joseph Johnson, age 7, of Hager City, WI died Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul. Jacob was born August 10, 2007 in Red Wing to Daniel and LeAnn (Rehder) Johnson. Our sweet Jacob was a wonderful son and brother with the most beautiful smile you ever saw. He fought bravely to stay with us for seven beautiful years despite all of his health issues. He was tough, earning his nickname of the "energizer bunny" and had so many loves of this world despite his disabilities. He had a deep love of music and loved being outdoors. Jacob was a large Curious George and Finding Nemo fan, no matter how many times he watched them. We were extremely blessed to have Jacob in our lives even if only for seven short years and he will be missed deeply.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Dan and LeAnn Johnson of Hager City; siblings, Josie and Steven; great-grandma, Yvonne "Bibs" Johnson of Bay City; grandparents, Peggy Barker of Milford, VA, David (Donna) Barker of Bay City; aunts and uncles, Tom (Tammy) Johnson of Oahu, HI, Candace Barker of Woodbury, Rick Barker of Fredericksburg, VA, and Melissa (Jon) Somerville of Bay City; numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives who have done so much to help Jacob's family through his journey; his lovely physical therapist, Margaret Zignego; and extended family at Gillette Children's Hospital, who took such wonderful care of Jacob, Dr. Nancy Kammer "grandma", Dr. Steve Baisch "grandpa", Dr. Beverly Wical, Reverend Helen Wells O'Brien and so many more wonderful doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists. He is preceded in death by great-grandparents, Orville Johnson and Shirley and Don Hutchson; grandpa, Steven B. Johnson; and his best buddy Will Lewis, who Jacob will join in Heaven.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
