Iva L. Hauschildt, 82, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Lake City.
She was born February 12, 1940 in Red Wing to August and Ruby (Mandelkow) Strusz. She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School, class of 1958. She married Duanne Hauschildt at Vasa Lutheran Church on October 9, 1964. She joined Duanne and his three children and they made their home in rural Ellsworth. Together, they would have 3 more children. She owned and operated The Little Grand Cafe in Ellsworth from 1981-1987. She and Duanne were married for more than 25 years before Duanne’s passing in 1989.
Iva worked various jobs in the Red Wing area, including Riviera Kitchens and Jostens Diploma. She loved gardening and enjoyed canning and preserving the fruits and vegetables she grew. She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed embroidery and crocheting. In her later years, after moving from her home in Burnside to the Downtown Plaza, she enjoyed the community and company that The Plaza provided. She had many friends to play cards with and attend events and activities.
She was very close with her family including her nieces and nephews. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be missed by many, including her children; Duanne Jr. (Martha Garcia) Hauschildt of Carroll, Iowa, Kristin (Steven Brenner) Hauschildt of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Kathrine (Derek) Walker-Smith of Ramsgate, Kent, England; 7 grandchildren, Dustin, Tracy, Zachary, Tyler, Dominick, Sebastian, and Hunter; 6 great-grandchildren, Adrien, Aubrey, Hudson Emma, Lily, and Scarlet; one sister, Janice Hince of Pepin, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duanne, Sr.; Duanne’s children, Diane Horschak, John Hauschildt, and Dani Hauschildt; siblings, Herbert Strusz, Robert Strusz, Dorothy Hanson, and Adeline Hove; as well as her parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing with Rev. Dean Lundgren officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2022 at the funeral home as well as on hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Svea Lutheran Cemetery in Hager City, Wis.
