Isabelle "Liz" Benson

Isabelle "Liz" Kathryn Benson, 84, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born Dec. 3, 1925 in Goodhue, MN to Ira and Louise (Hennings) Ramboldt and attended schools in the Goodhue area. She lived in Red Wing for a short while before marrying Richard Benson on May 29, 1946. They lived in Circle Pines, Minnesota until the 1970's when they moved to St. Paul. Liz had worked as a seamstress making curtains and later as a cook at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul until her retirement. Richard died November 20, 1993 and a few years later she moved to Red Wing, where she had resided at the Seminary Plaza and then at Jordan Towers. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Circle Pine's VFW Auxiliary. She loved reading, sewing and making quilts and talking with her family.
She is survived by one sister, Lucille Huffman of West St. Paul and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, James Benson; 3 sisters, Nellie Luetke, Louise Golden and Violet Stream and 5 brothers, Beryn "Bud", Joe, Donald, Wilfred and Harold Ramboldt.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Wayne Walther officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Pepin, Wisconsin. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
