Irma Katherine Nelson, age 91, of Red Wing, died Friday, January 12, 2007, at Red Wing Health Center. She was born October 13, 1915, in Red Ring, to Mathias and Josephine (Baminger) Huhn. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School and lived most of her life in Red Wing. She was married to Lloyd N. Nelson on April 27, 1939, in Red Wing. He died on November 1, 1980. She was a member of Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post Auxiliary and St. Paul?s Lutheran Church where she served on the funeral committee and was a member of a women?s circle. She enjoyed baking apple pies, reading, playing cards, scrabble, traveling and served as an election judge. Survivors include two sons, Dale (Tracy) Nelson of Edina and Jerry (Mary) Nelson of Red Wing; four grandchildren, Kara Nelson, Jana (Kyle) Erickson, Cole and Chase Nelson; five great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. Preceding her in death were her husband; and two sisters, Josephine Swenson and Mary Cartwright. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday, January, 22, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of services Monday at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the church or the Alzheimer?s Association.
