Irma Dose, 81, of Lake City, Minnesota, passed away at her home on January 10, 2011 from complications of amyloid disease.
She was born October 12, 1929 in Mt Pleasant Township to Louis and Christine (Roschen) Tomforde. Irma attended public and parochial schools, being confirmed at St. John's in 1943. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947. Following graduation, she worked as the secretary at the public school (when there was only one secretary!) until her marriage to Henry Dose, September 2, 1948 in Lake City. They farmed in Wes Albany Township until 1975 when they retired and moved to Lake City. Henry passed away October 9, 1992. When the youngest child entered school, Irma rejoined the workforce outside the home being employed at the law office of Smith and Schreiber for 16 years. Following that, she prepared income taxes from her home until 2003 when she married Robert Burfeind May 17, 2003 in Lake City. Bob passed away August 21, 2007.
Irma was active in community and church organizations. She was a member of St John's Lutheran Church, Wabasha County Extension, 4-H, Health Care Auxiliary, Rose Garden Club, Altar Guild and choir.
She is survived by three sons, John (Sue Engen), James (Marcy), Joel (Deb) all of Lake City, daughter, Janice (Frederick) Fredrickson of Zumbrota, Bob's three children, Charles (Sharon), Sandra (Mike) Livermore and Howard, brother Arnold Tomforde of Lake City, 12 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, two sisters, LuVonna Lichtblau, Henrietta Howatt and two brothers, William Tomforde, Emory Tomforde.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will be in St, John's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church. Memorials are preferred to St John's choir gown project or to a charity of the donor's choice.
