Irene Louise Wegner

ROCHESTER - Irene L. Wegner, 92, of Rochester, died Monday (April 2, 2012) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Irene Louise Krunzl was born in La Crosse, WI on Aug. 31, 1919 to Antoine and Freida (Hoffman) Krunzl. She moved to Rochester and was a waitress before her marriage to Reuben "Rube" Wegner, on Sept. 9, 1946 in La Crosse. They were married for 67 years. Irene worked at the Elks Club for sixteen years and eight of those years she served as manager. After that she with her husband and their sons owned their own Catering and Concession Business. They had a contract with the city of Rochester for concessions and catering, including the Mayo Civic Center and other numerous locations, for fourteen years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and she loved her church. She was proud of her family and loved being with her grandson and all the friends that to her, were family. She was a great cook, loved to entertain, and traveled with friends and family on numerous fun filled trips.
She is survived by her Dear husband Reuben, two sons, Jerry (Susan) Wegner, and Wayne (Pam) Wegner, both of Rochester; her grandson, Cory Wegner, six step grandchildren, Tim (Lacey), and Kelly (Nick) Aney, Jason (Tara), and Jenny Churchill, and Jay, and Matt Lyman, five step great grandchildren, Jacob Christenson, Corey, Casey, and Addison Lyman, and Aiden Churchill, and her dear sweet nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one nephew.
The funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday (April 5, 2012) at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend William Otte officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel, and one hour before the service at the church. A Celebration of Life will be at the Eagles Club in Rochester at 4:30 p.m. after the burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
