Irene L. Tomforde

Irene Lillian Tomforde, 84, of Lake City, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Lake City Nursing Home. She was born October 6, 1926 in Lake City, to Henry and Stella (Siefert) Luhmann. She attended rural school in District 17 and Lake City High School. On September 26, 1944, she married William Tomforde at St. John's Church in Lake City. After William died in 1977, Irene worked at the Lake City Nursing home for 13 years and continued to volunteer there after retiring. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and she enjoyed cleaning and taking care of her home, playing cards and Bingo.
She is survived by 2 sons, Louis Tomforde and Harold (Lynda) Tomforde both of Lake City; daughter, Mary Kohrs of Lake City; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a brother, Alvin Luhmann of Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her husband; 4 sisters and a daughter-in-law, Janice Tomforde.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
