Irene Rieck

Irene Bernice Rieck, 83, of Red Wing died November 26, 2011 at the Fairview Seminary Home. She was born June 8, 1928 in Hay Creek Township to George and Elizabeth (Steffenhagen) Santelman. She attended country school and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1946. On May 14, 1950 she married Wilbert Rieck in Frontenac in a double wedding ceremony with her sister. In 1953 they moved to Wells Creek. After moving to Red Wing in 1968 she worked as a waitress at Nybo's Bowling Lanes for 25 years. Irene was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac and a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed baseball, softball, football, playing cards and traveling with Wilbert by motorcoach to all 48 states. In 2007 they moved to Potter Ridge, where she was a member of the choir and enjoyed many activities and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicky (John) Tripp of Northfield and Gayle (Steven) Noakes of Savage; one sister, Frances Heins of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert; her parents; three sisters, Florence (Harold) Grimm, Beulah Santelman and Betty (Donald) Heins; and two brothers, Marcell and George Santelman.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 2nd, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac with Reverend Christopher Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
