A memorial service for Irene Kern will be held Friday October 2nd at 11:00 AM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. Mrs. Kern, 94, of Rochester, died Saturday September 26, 2015 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th in Rochester.
Irene Ovedia Gilbertson was born January 29, 1921 in Saratoga Township, Winona County, Minnesota to Oscar and Ida Gilbertson. After High School she moved to Rochester and married Philip Kern on October 16, 1942. Irene loved to play bridge and sew. Mom and Dad traveled to various destinations until he died in February of 1995
She is survived by her daughter, Holly Ridd of Rochester. Grandchildren, Michelle Ridd, Sarah Rustad and Christopher Kern. Great-grandchildren; Kinsley and Tanner. Irene is also survived by her sister, Mae DeFosse of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip, two sons; James and John Kern; one sister and one brother.
Friends may call one prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
