Irene Augusta Carlson-Flemke, 81, of Red Wing, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at the Fairview Red Wing Seminary Home. Irene was born August 11, 1925 in Genoa, Wisconsin to Albert and Zelma (Powell) Wolfe. She attended Romance Country School in Romance, WI. After completing school, Irene worked as a waitress at Bordon?s in LaCrosse, WI. On February 14, 1948, Irene married Harley Carlson in a double wedding with her sister, Hazel in Genoa, WI. After marriage Irene and Harley lived in LaCrosse, WI until moving to Red Wing, MN in 1955. Irene took care of children, was a waitress at Larry?s Broiler then worked at Josten?s until retiring in 1988. Harley passed away in July of 1990. On May 2, 1992, Irene married Otto Flemke. They wintered in Arizona where they enjoyed friends, many activities and the warm weather. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church and Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering for both. Irene enjoyed camping, spending time with her grandchildren, collecting angels and journaling. Irene will be sadly missed by her husband, Otto Flemke of Red Wing; 2 children, Bob Carlson of Red Wing and Harla Jean (Jim) Lemmerman of Duluth; 5 step-children, Richard Carlson of Mindoro, Wisc, Steven (LaVae) Flemke of Evansville, Wisc., Carol (Eugene) Mickelson of Red Wing, Thomas (Faye) Flemke of Owatonna and Daniel (Cindy) Flemke of Red Wing; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Albert (Ann) Wolfe of Genoa, Wisc.; and 2 sisters, Geneva Smith of LaCrosee, Wisc. and JoAnn Garvalia of Genoa, Wisc.In addition to being predeceased by her parents and Harley, she was predeceased by her five brothers, Floyd, Lloyd, Blaine, LaRoy, Charles; and her two sisters, Hazel Degarmo and Dorothy Simmons.A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN with Reverend Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be at Money Creek Cemetery in Money Creek, Minnesota. Pallbearers will be Bob Stapel, Les Firl, Brad Fischer, Paul Fischer, Joel Flemke, Ron Flemke and Reynold Zimmermann. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge, 411 2nd St. NW in Rochester, Minnesota.
