Irene Amanda Boldt, 97, Red Wing, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born December 15, 1911 in Hay Creek Township, the daughter of William and Martha (Vedder) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and attended Hay Creek schools. She married Lester Boldt on September 3, 1938 in Decorah, Iowa and they had the opportunity to celebrate their 70th anniversary. They built a new home on Phelps Street where they lived for 34 years and then they moved to Jordan Towers where they resided for 17 years, moving to Hi-Park Villa and year and a half ago. For about 10 years she worked at the City Hospital. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she served on the Communion service committee. She enjoyed cleaning, cooking, playing cards, dancing, picnicking out at the farm and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Lester; two sons, Dick (Marilyn) Boldt of Hager City and Roger (Gloria) Boldt of Red Wing; six grandchildren: Mitchell (Chris) Boldt, Adrienne Watts, Wade Boldt, Annette (Jim) Ernster, Scott (Mandi) Boldt and Monica (Willie) Root; twenty-three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Emma Miller; three brothers: Carl, George and LeRoy Miller; two great-grandsons: Austin Erie and Cody Boldt.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Wayne Walther officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mitchell, Wade, Scott, Steven and Ben Boldt and Willie Root. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
