OBITUARY: Ione Ronning

Funeral services for Ione Ronning will be at 11 AM on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Reverend John Torris Lohre and Reverend Kip Groettum officiating. Active casketbearers will be Anthony, Michael and Jacob Ronning, Joshua Benson, Chad, Scott and Troy Haugen, Brian and Darrin Dahl. Honorary casketbearers will be Kristi, Joshua and Adam Ronning. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Saint Paul Lutheran Church.


Ione Adair Ronning, age 68, of Pine Island died on Monday, May 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born on November 30, 1939 in Galesville, WI to Milferd and Dorothy (Smith) Dahl. She attended school in Kenyon and worked in the billing department for Northern States Power. On June 27, 1959, she married David Ronning in Kenyon. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Kenyon, Rochester and Pine Island. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church. Ione enjoyed volunteer work at Pine Haven Care Center, fishing, camping, and was a Minnesota sports fan including Pine Island, the Twins and the Vikings.

She is survived by her husband, David; three sons: Jay (Julie), of Plainview, Jeffrey and Timothy, of Pine Island, MN; six grandchildren: Tony, Mike, Jake, Kristi, Josh and Adam; four sisters: Shirley (Orville) Castle, of Farmington, Marilyn (Don) Haugen, of Lakeville, Shari Haugen, of Pine Island, Bonnie (Chuck) Benson, of Bloomington; two brothers: Wilferd Dahl, of Kenyon and Don Dahl, of AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milferd and Dorothy, and two sisters: Donna and Stephanie.
