Ione Eugenia Peterson Mountain

Ione Eugenia Peterson Mountain, 93, Red Wing, died Wednesday March 16, 2011 at Valentine's Assisted Living. She was born on January 3, 1918 in Bay City, the daughter of Christ and Helen (Halvorson) Lynner. She attended school at Elm Grove and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1936. She married Norman Peterson on April 20, 1939. They farmed in Hartland Township until 1976 when they moved to Bay City. She also worked at Ellsworth School in food service, helped sell hearing aids in Red Wing, and helped Norman sell Pioneer Seed Corn for over 50 years. Norman died February 24, 1992. She married Elmer Mountain August 1995. He died October 8, 1997. Ione was a member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church, where she was active with ELCW, and circle groups. She was also part of two local birthday clubs. She enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe, gardening, helping drive tractor on the farm, shopping, and entertaining family and friends.

She is survived by three children, Barbara (Jack) Noll of Bay City, Randy Peterson (Leah Wood) of Bay City, Bev Peterson (Mic Borst) of Prescott; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and one arriving in May; four great-great grandsons; one sister, Shirley Fedor of Mundelein, IL; Elmer Mountain's children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both husbands, Norman Peterson and Elmer Mountain.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 at Eidsvold Lutheran Church with Reverend Mary Eide officiating. Burial will be at Esdaile Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
