Ilene Haukom

Ilene June Haukom, age 83, of Rochester, MN passed away from natural causes on July 6, 2024 at her family home which was also the same home in which she was born in on September 12, 1940.

She graduated from Central High School in Rochester, MN 1958. Ilene married her high school sweet heart, David Vandal and they had 3 children. She later remarried Verlyn Haukom adding two more children to the family. She was a loving stay home mom and in 1976, since her children where older; she went to work doing assembly factory work for Lake Side Assemblers for 3 years and later worked another 27 years at Electrical Assemblers.

Ilene loved spending time with her family and we did a lot of camping, even though it was not something she was overly excited about but she loved seeing the joy in her family's eyes and building many lasting family memories.

In 1980 Ilene and Verlyn moved back into Ilene's original home after her father's passing and they continued to live the rest of their lives in the home. Verlyn passed away in 2008 and with of the support of her family she was able to stay in the home thru her final days.

Ilene is survived by 4 daughters, Barb Bates of Little Falls, MN, Liz (Warren) Hauger of Stewartville, MN, Vicky Haukom of Pensacola, FL, and Missy (Darrick) Kostel of Rochester, MN. Ilene had 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Peggy Jorgensen; 4 sisters. Peggy Youngner, Qwen Crain, Doreen Joyce, and Nan Sieben; one son, Philip Haukom.

We will be having a celebration of life with her family and her close friends on Thursday, July 11th at 11:00 am at her family home.
