Ila L. Friedrich age 91 of Zumbrota passed away on Monday, May 9, 2916 at the Pine Haven Care Center. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Stordahl Lutheran Church 15049 County 12 Blvd., Zumbrota, MN with Pastor Kathleen Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ila Lillian Schwartz was born on July 25, 1924 in rural Wolsey, South Dakota. As she was growing up her family moved several times before settling in the Lake Elmo area. She attended country school and helped on the farm. On December 7, 1959 she married Joseph H. Friedrich in Hudson, WI. They made their home in rural Lake Elmo and farmed together until 1971 when they moved to the Zumbrota area. They farmed in Minneola Township until retiring in the early 1980's. Ila ran an antique business out of her house and also ran her booth at many antique shows. She enjoyed the socializing at the antique shows, outdoor activities, her animals on the farm, playing cards, gardening and raising flowers.
Ila is survived by her children, Charlene Friedrich of Lake Elmo, Dan (Nancy) McClain of Colfax, WI, Charles (Teri Mindt) of Stillwater, Joel (Pat) Friedrich of Pine Island and Lavonne Steiger of Rochester; seventeen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, William (Jane) Schwartz of Baldwin, WI and sister, Erma (Norton) Egge of Ruth, NV.
Ila was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Wanda Ecklund and grandson, Garrett Steiger.
