Hulda A. Williams, age 98, of Pine Island died on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Pine Island with Pastor Carolyn Westlake officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Hulda Amelia Menton was born on July 17, 1914 in Mankato, MN to Peter and Hulda Menton. In 1931 she graduated from Mankato High School. On September 28, 1932 she married Clifford Williams in Madison Lake, MN. They started farming in 1934 and continued to farm until retiring on September 1, 1975, when they moved to Pine Island. Hulda worked at the Pine Island school cafeteria. Hulda will be remembered for the good cook she was. Hulda loved to have company every Sunday for dinner and also enjoyed sewing and making rugs, quilting, gardening and music. Hulda is survived by her children, Chris (Nancy) Williams of Mogadore, OH, Gil Williams of Bloomington, MN, Clifford (Christy) Williams Jr. of Valley Springs, TX, Helen (Robert) Durst and Marlene McGee, both of Pine Island; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hulda was preceded in death by her husband Clifford on March 23, 1997; three sisters and three brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given the Pine Haven Care Center or United Methodist Church in Pine Island. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.
