Hubert Voth

Hubert "Hubie" Wilfred Voth, 95, Red Wing, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Red Wing Hospital. He was born March 24, 1917 in Featherstone Township, the son of Henry and Anna (Dicke) Voth. He attended school in Featherstone Township and Immanuel Lutheran School in Hay Creek. For a short time he worked at S. B. Foot Tannery and in St. Louis in an aircraft factory. He served in the U. S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II as a medic, receiving the Bronze Star. Following his discharge, he married Irma Albers in San Antonio, TX on December 8, 1947. They returned to Red Wing and he worked for Kramer's Hatchery, Lloyd's Produce and for the U. S. Postal Service for 20 years, retiring in 1980. Irma died February 23, 1984. He married Audrey Simonson on September 12, 1992 at Concordia Lutheran Church. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he served on many committees and boards, the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54, and N.A.R.F.E. He was an active volunteer at the Minnesota Correctional Facility and with other local organizations. His passions were his Lord Jesus, his family, his friends, and the beauty of God's creation. He enjoyed reading, visiting with people and always had a concern for others.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; children: Mark Voth of Andover, Marilyn (Steve) Nelson of Red Wing, Henry (Ann) Voth of Stillwater, Harold (Lori) Voth of Hastings, Colleen (Kevin) Klair of Coon Rapids and Diane (Peter Bierman) Voth of White Bear Lake; two step-children: Ginny (Emery) Fitschen and Jeffrey (Holly) Simonson, all of Red Wing; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irma; brothers, Raymond, Walter, Reuben, Roland, Elmer and twin brothers, Arthur and Arnold; sisters, Lucille Horn and Pauline Cordes.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Reverend Tyge Zucker officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
