Howard "Jack" Jackson Newton, 74, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the Bay View Care Center. He was born March 23, 1945 in Petersburg, Virginia to Howard and Violet (Barret) Newton. He moved to Michigan with his mother where he spent most of his childhood. After graduating from high school, he went on to work for Buick. He later moved to Minnesota where he lived many places before finally settling in Red Wing. He worked various jobs, including his work as a nurse's aide at the Red Wing Health Care Center.
Jack was a thoughtful man who enjoyed doing things for others. He truly enjoyed being a care giver. He had the best decorated room at Bay View and he had a fond appreciation for antiques. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and, in his younger years, enjoyed fishing. Jack very much appreciated the care he received at Bay View and was grateful for the help of St. Croix Hospice.
He is survived by his son, Robert Newton; sister, Janet Maria Welles; and half-brother, John Earl Newton. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 3p.m., February 8th, 2020 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Red Wing with Reverend Brian Beavers officiating.
