Howard Henry Korsten

Howard Henry Korsten, 86, Red Wing, died Tuesday. He was born December 4, 1920 in Belvidere Township, the son of Henry and Kate (Kunde) Korsten. He attended school in Goodhue. He married Deloris Kuhfuss on August 3, 1946. They farmed in Hay Creek until 1967. He worked at Red Wing Sewer Pipe and then at Durkee Atwood, retiring in 1985. Following retirement he worked at Oakwood Cemetery. Deloris died June 20, 1988. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Goodhue. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita (Mike) Knopick of Red Wing; three sons: Lance (Terri), Niles (Mary) and Kim (Sandy Safe) Korsten, all of Red Wing; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eunice Battey of Chatfield, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters, Helen Buck and Bernice Kjos.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue with Reverend Andrew Krause officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Klair, Bradley Dahl, Fred Stumpf, Bill Peterson, Ronnie and Larry Stumpf. Honorary pallbearer will be Nick Korsten. Visitation will be 4-7 p. m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
