Howard W. Fick

Howard W. Fick, 88, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Lake City Nursing Home. Born November 5, 1921 in Lake City to Albert and Martha (Oak) Fick, he graduated from high school in 1940. Howard joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 where he was stationed in northern Africa. After being discharged in 1945 he returned to Lake City and married Lorraine Wiley on September 28, 1945. They lived and farmed in Lake Township, Wabasha County, until moving to Lake City in 1985. He then volunteered at Coyote Ridge Christian Camp and later worked at the Lake City Marina for several years until retiring. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #110, Lake City Kiwanis, Farm Bureau where he held various positions, and he was very active with the group he served with in the Army. Howard enjoyed farming, visiting with people, and his faith.

Howard is survived by two daughters, Susan (Robert) Hart of Rushford, and Barbara (Richard) Sorenson of Oronoco; two granddaughters, Victoria (Chris) Pierret of Rochester and Erica (AJ) Cook of Holmen, Wisc.; two great-grandsons, Lucas and Simon Pierret; and niece, Dianne Andring. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; and one brother, Jim Fick.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Darren Paulson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund.
