Hildegard Leona Koester, 89, of Red Wing, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 at St. Brigid?s at Hi Park. She was born October 15, 1917 in Hay Creek Twsp., to Fred and Lydia (Holst) Stumpf and attended school in Hay Creek. She married Clarence Koester on May 31, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and they farmed in Hay Creek for many years. They enjoyed traveling together. Clarence died May 17, 1988. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a part of the Ladies Aid, the Fellowship Club and the Birthday Club. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and being with her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Stan (Carol) Koester of Red Wing; 3 grandchildren, Kim (Terry) Frazier of Red Wing, Kurt (Amy) of Red Wing and Kari Koester of Arizona; 8 great-grandchildren, Gary, Cody, Tyson, Mitch, Marcus, Vanessa, Macy and Dylan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deanie Koester; husband, Clarence and brother, Hilbert Stumpf. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church Hay Creek, with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the church.
