Helen I. Zipp

Helen I. Zipp, age 93, of Zumbrota, died on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Zumbrota Health Services. She was born on April 3, 1919, in Goodhue County, to August and Sarah (Lother) Rietmann. Helen attended school in Goodhue and graduated from Zumbrota High School. On June 10, 1939, she married Carl Zipp at The Little Brown Church in Iowa. The couple made their home in Zumbrota and were married for over 71 years. She was a devoted wife and mother of Duane Zipp, who preceded her in death at a young age. Helen enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and entertaining. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-great nieces and nephews. She was a founding and loyal member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, and charter member of the VFW Auxiliary in Zumbrota.

Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Zipp, who died on September 20, 2010; son, Duane Zipp; sisters, Delores Berg, and Luella Skog.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January, 3, 2013, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, with Pastor Eric Westlake officiating. Burial will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
