OBITUARY: Helen Tuttle
Graveside service for Helen E. Tuttle will be at 10AM on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Pine Island Cemetery with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating.
Helen E. Tuttle, age 88, of Pine Island died on Monday, October 13, 2008 at the Pine Haven Care Center. She was born Helen Elizabeth Cowles on July 15, 1920 in Milton Township, Dodge County, Minnesota to Harold and Esther (Buehler) Cowles. She attended rural school and graduated from West Concord High School. Helen married Verne West in Pine Island and, following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed south of Pine Island. They later divorced. She went to Eugene, Oregon and later moved to California where she worked clerical in retail sales. She returned to Pine Island and entered Pine Haven Care Center. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pine Island and she liked to read.
Helen is survived by her brother, Larry (Julia) Cowles, of Crossville, Tennessee, and her sister, Dorothy Benson, of Mantorville; five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
