Helen Marjorie O'Connor, age 89 of Red Wing died on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing.

Helen was born on March 1, 1919 in Red Wing, the daughter of Victor and Clara (Ruebke) Larson. She was raised in Prairie Island and Welch area and attended the local schools. On September 9, 1937 she was united in marriage to William Ernest Mundle in Brainerd, MN. The couple lived in the Brainerd area for four years before returning to the Red Wing area, where they built a home and raised five children. Helen was a caregiver to Ernest, who was fighting Multiple Sclerosis for 20 years before losing his battle with the disease on July 19, 1973. While working at Joann and Ralph's Restaurant in Red Wing, she met Tom O'Connor of Bay City, WI and they were married on November 21, 1974. They traveled and enjoyed retirement for 14 years, until his death on May 1, 1988. Helen traveled extensively with Bob and Cheryl throughout the United States and Europe. In her later years, she loved spending time with family, feeding her birds, flowers, and reading.

Helen is survived by daughters Joann Eckstrom of Rice Lake, WI and Nancy (Richard) Lee of Wanamingo, MN; sons Robert (Cheryl) Mundle of Vonore, TN and Duane (Tammy) Mundle of Red Wing, MN; sister Dorothy (Bill) Thompson of Red Wing, MN; sister-in-laws Elaine Larson of Lake City, MN and Ada Ward of Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She is preceded in death by her husbands' Ernest Mundle and Tom O'Connor; son Dale Mundle; step-son Robert O'Connor; brother Donald Larson; and one infant grandson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Larson, David Stoner, Scott Eckstrom, Brian Lee, Anthony Lee, and Aaron Lee.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials preferred to donor's choice. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling the arrangements.
