Helen G. Hoven

Helen G. Hoven, age 90, of Wanamingo died on Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Kenyon Sunset Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverends Luther Peterson and Paul Reppe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 7, 2007 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Helen Gitta Froyum was born on January 8, 1917 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN to John A. and Ellen S. (nee Bjugan) Froyum. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. In 1934 she graduated from Wanamingo High School. On September 1, 1938 she married Glenn H. Hoven. They farmed for several years and moved to Wanamingo in 1942. Glenn operated Wanamingo Locker Service and Helen worked as a cook for Central Caf?, Wanamingo Public Schools and the Zumbrota Hospital. Helen enjoyed traveling, gardening, golfing, raising flowers and watching her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Helen was a member of Lands Lutheran Church and was very active in all of the church activities. Helen is survived by three sons Mark (Kathy) Hoven of Fort Worth, TX, Neil (JoAnn) Hoven of Westby, WI, and Grant (Cathay) Hoven of Wanamingo, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one brother, Walter (Betty) Froyum of Wanamingo, one sister, Mildred Neale of Montrose, CO. and two daughters in law, Mary Jacqueline H. Stevens and Susan Hoven. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, two sons, Gary and Dean, and three sisters, Evelyn Knutson, Dagna Swee and Phyllis Burkhart. The family suggests memorials to the Lands Lutheran Elevator Fund.
