Helen Daley

Helen Catherine Daley, 96, of Welch, died Friday November 12, 2010 at St. Brigid's at Hi- Park. She was born April 23, 1914 to Alvin and Caroline (Schaffer) Olson of Welch. She attended rural school and graduated in 1931 from Red Wing High School and in 1932 from Red Wing Teacher Training Department. After teaching for 5 years in rural schools she married Freeman Daley September 11, 1937. She lived her entire life in the Welch area. Freeman died October 16, 1980. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and active in local projects. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, baking, and Hardanger needlework.

She is survived by five sons, Kenneth Daley of Welch, Lowell (Sylvia) Daley of Hastings, Bernard Daley of Welch, Duane "Oscar" (Janet) Daley of Welch, Daniel (Linda) Daley of Welch; two daughters, Diane Perrier of Red Wing and Kathryn (Keith) Sebion of Red Wing; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother Paul (Bernice) Olson of Welch and one sister, Harriet Schammel of Red Wing. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Conrad, Godfrey, Eugene, and one sister, Francis Kilgore.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 16, 2010 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Bob Albing officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Gunnar Daley, Tom Daley, Chris Daley, Adrian Daley, Zachery Daley, Jon Perrier, and Jason Sebion. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday Nov. 15, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to service. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
