Helen Theresa Callier

Funeral services for Helen Callier will be held Monday June 11th at 2:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The Reverend Mark McNea of Saint Francis Catholic Church will officiate. Mrs. Callier, 85, of Rochester, died Wednesday June 6, 2012 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester will follow the funeral.
Helen Theresa Winkler was born July 19, 1926 in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Andrew and Celia Winkler. She was raised in Buffalo Lake. On July 10, 1946, at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, Minnesota, she married Herbert Callier. The couple resided in Rochester, where Mrs. Callier worked at South Crystal Café, and then Gordon Jewelers. Later, she worked in the physical therapy department at Mayo Clinic, and then in the office of the Rochester Eagles' Club. She was a member of Saint Francis Catholic Church, and was a member of the Eagles' Auxiliary, where she was a past-president and past state president, and was a volunteer for many years of the annual Eagles' Cancer Telethon. She was also a member of the auxiliaries of the American Legion and VFW in Rochester.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Sunrise Cottages for the compassionate and loving care they provided for Helen.
Helen is survived by her son, Richard (Patty) Callier of Rochester; grandchildren, Andrew Callier and Colleen Callier, both of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley, Allison, Emile, Nathan, Ethan, and Michael; and a sister, Alice (Leroy) Gehrke of Hutchinson. Also surviving is a nephew, Robert (June) Callier, Sr. of Rochester, and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Callier, in 2000; and by five sisters and a brother.
Friends may call Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, where the Eagles' Auxiliary will conduct rites at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
