Helen G. Fleming Bruggeman

Helen G. Fleming Bruggeman, 88 of Red Wing, Minnesota died Sunday, November 1, 2015, at the Seminary Home. She was born October 1, 1927 in Sogn, the daughter of Kenneth and Ila (Haugen) Fordahl. She was a 1945 graduate of Kenyon High School and then attended Faribault St. Lucas Hospital nurses training program, graduating as a registered nurse. She married Stanley Fleming on September 24, 1949 in Kenyon and they farmed in Goodhue County. She worked at the City Hospital and St. John's Hospital in Red Wing and for a few years at Northfield Hospital. She retired from St. John's Hospital after 40 years, spending the majority of her career as a maternity nurse. Stanley died in January, 1962. She married Edward Bruggeman on June 8, 1985 and they loved to travel, especially by train. Edward died in 1991. She was a member of United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening with her green thumb talent, sewing, and she enjoyed spending time on her computer, creating family photographic memories and genealogy.

Survivors include: four children, Linda (David) Bang of Red Wing, Stan (Nikki) Fleming of Apple Valley, Bob (Susan) Fleming of Eagan and Luan (Daniel) Colvin of Red Wing; two step-children: Catherine (Ward) Schendel and Jim Bruggeman of the Twin Cities; thirteen grandchildren: three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two siblings: Virginia (Wally) Aase of Kenyon and Arlen (Joann) Fordahl of Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at United Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the church. Memorials are preferred to the Variety Club Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Red Wing Hospice or donor's choice.
