Hazel Weberg, 89, of Welch, died Monday, August 24, 2009, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing. She was born June 24, 1920 in Red Wing to Swan and Edith (Rundquist) Hokenstrom. She graduated from Central High School in 1938. Hazel married Wallace Weberg on October 7, 1944 in Red Wing. After they married they lived in Burnside for five years, moving to Welch in 1949. She worked at Durkee Atwood during the war. She also worked at F.W. Woolworth Company for six years, and later in the office of Red Wing Pottery and the Red Wing Milling Company. From 1970 until her retirement in 1985 she worked in the office at Red Wing Shoe Company. Hazel was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and was an active member of the WELCA. She enjoyed weaving rugs, quilting, and gardening.
She is survived by her children, Katherine (Steve) Breza of Kasson and Allen (fiancée Michelle Dietz) Weberg of Welch; grandchildren Lynn (Randy) Beck, Wendy (Rick) Laws, Gregory (Michelle) Hasselblad, Steve Breza Jr. (Krissy Peterson), Chad (Kelly ) Weberg, Sara Weberg (Brandon Pitts), Jeremie (Ashley) Seedorf, Jonathan Seedorf, Jamie Seedorf, Jenni Seedorf; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Merl (Sue) Hokenstrom of Winona, and several nieces, nephews, family, and friends. The family would also like to thank former son-in-law William (Sandy) Hasselblad for all of their love and care for Hazel over the years. She is preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Barbara Hasselblad.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Bob Albing officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
