Harry "Hap" Albert Oelkers, 89, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Brigid's at Hi Park. He was born October 23, 1924, in Hay Creek Township to John and Emma (Boatman) Oelkers. He attended rural school in Hay Creek and grew up working on the family farm. He was a lifelong farmer and in addition to maintaining his own farm he often helped with work on neighboring farms. He was also a skilled carpenter. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hay Creek and the local Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed anything to do with farming and particularly loved horses. He also enjoyed meeting friends at Mr. Bilz and playing euchre.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Viola Huber, Gretchen Ameling, Ruth Westerberg and Marian Burkard; brothers, Marvin and Raymond Oelkers ; and niece, Betty Oelkers.
