Harold F. Mohlke age 84 of Pine Island, formerly of Oronoco died suddenly at his home in Pine Island on Thursday, March 10, 2011. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, March 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island with Pastor Dwight LaPine of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation is Monday one hour prior to the service.
Harold Frederick Mohlke was born on August 23, 1926 in Oronoco, MN to George and Mary (nee Tiedeman) Mohlke. On January 16, 1951 he entered the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on June 19, 1952. Harold married Joan R. Holliday on October 22, 1951 in Rochester. After his discharge they returned to Oronoco and Harold worked for the Oronoco Cheese Factory. He later became a milk hauler for Rochester Dairy and then owned and operated a bulk delivery truck for DX Oil. Harold retired in 1987 after twenty four years of working for the Mayo Clinic. He enjoyed gardening, farming, tractors, John Deere garden tractors, reading, spending time with family, playing with his cats and dogs and shopping at Menards. Harold was a member of William T. McCoy American Legion Post #92 in Rochester. Harold is survived by his wife Joan; children, John (Lynn Albers) Mohlke of Pine Island, Pamela (Craig) Evans of Kasson, Carmen (Myles) Keller of Mantorville, Paul Mohlke of Des Moines, IA, and Billy (Kimmy Johnson) Mohlke of Pine Island; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Abbott, Natasha (Luke) Wrubel, Jeff (Tory) Mohlke, Grant (Margaret) Mohlke, Jennifer (Pete) Wyttenbach, Allison (Brandon) Berg and Justin (Krysta) Mohlke; seven great grandchildren, Noah, Meghan, Myah, Mallory, Alexandra, Rowan and Urijah. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois Mohlke and Myra Markham; brothers, George, Martin, Harvey and Ervin.
