Harold Swan Meredith

A memorial service for Harold Meredith will be held Thursday March 26th at 2:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home's Rochester Chapel in Rochester. The Reverend Bruce Buller will officiate. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Meredith, 85, a lifelong Rochester resident, died Saturday March 21, 2009 at Saint Mary's Hospital.
Harold Swan Meredith was born March 15, 1924 in Rochester. He was a graduate of Rochester High School. On July 19, 1950 he married Bonnie Lou Michelson in Rochester. Having worked as a route manager for the Minneapolis Star Tribune in Rochester, he then worked for Don Fisher Oil. Harold and Bonnie owned and operated the Fieldhouse Café in Rochester for five years. Eventually, Harold became employed as a truck driver for Doyle Connor Construction, from which he retired in the early 1980s.
He was an avid Minnesota sports' enthusiast, and he enjoyed fishing.
He was an honorary member of the American Legion Post 92, and he was a friend of Bill W.
He is survived by his son, Kip (Gretchen) Meredith, of Rochester; two grandchildren, Kate and John Meredith, both of Rochester; three brothers, Francis (Marty) Meredith of Denver, Colorado, Earl (Dorothy) Meredith of Rochester, and James (Mary) Meredith of Stewartville; and a sister, Janet Cocker of Chatfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Agnes Meredith; and a sister, Helen.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
If so desired, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choosing.
