Harold Oswald Iverson

Harold "Ozzie" Oswald Iverson, 89, of Red Wing, formerly of Mahnomen, Minnesota died Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Red Wing Health Center. Harold was born in Waubun, Minnesota on May 27, 1923 to Alfred and Benora (Halvorson) Iverson. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where he proudly sang in the Concert Choir. In 1943 he joined the U.S. Navy, and eventually served on the USS Tranquility, until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He then enrolled at NDSU in Fargo, North Dakota where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. In 1963 he married Marlys Hagen. He owned and operated Iverson Drug in Mahnomen where he and Marlys lived. Together, they were blessed with four children and later retired to Sun Lakes, Ariz. The couple later moved to Red Wing to be closer to their family. Harold enjoyed golfing and loved to ski. He was proud of his military service during WWII and his career as a pharmacist.
Harold is survived by his wife, Marlys; four children, Patrick (Vicky) Iverson of Roseau, Minn., Suzanne (Mike Martinez) Iverson of El Paso, Texas, Kris (Jim) Davig of Red Wing, Minn., and Erik (Beth) Iverson of Fredericksburg, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Anthony, Kyle, Megan, Amanda, James, Grace, Peter and Henry; one sister, Ruth Buege; many nieces and nephews as well as many loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Tarjei, Berniece, Sigrid, Audrey and Keith; and one grandson, Jeremy Iverson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Monday, May 20, 2013 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Pastor Justin Boeding presiding. A visitation will be available one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the United Lutheran Music or Youth programs or to the Red Wing Health Center.
