OBITUARY: Harold W. Hanson

Harold W. Hanson, age 90, of Goodhue passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. Funeral services are Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Minneola Lutheran Church with Reverend Sarah Nietz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 4:00 ? 6:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Harold Woodrow Hanson was born February 8, 1918 in Grantsburg, Wisconsin to John William and Margrethe (Peterson) Hanson. Harold attended school at Siren, Wisconsin until the family moved to rural Ellsworth, Wisconsin where he completed his schooling. Harold worked for Cope Elevator in Ellsworth and worked for Kenall Road Construction. He married Orella Haugsland on May 9, 1942 at her parent's home in rural Belle Creek by Reverend Otto Mostrom. The couple farmed in the area until retirement. After retirement, Harold enjoyed woodworking; making bird houses, trellises and toys. He also enjoyed birds, animals and flowers.
Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Orella, of Goodhue; children ? Darold (Diane) Hanson of Lakeville, MN; Donald (Sandra) Hanson of McKinney, TX; Sylvia Kidd of Apple Valley, MN; and Daniel (Heidi) Hanson of Goodhue, MN; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, sister in law, Rita Hanson of Olympia, WA; four nieces and four nephews. Harold was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Christopher Hanson and Donna Hanson; two brothers, Gordon and Lyle Hanson and one sister, June (Hanson) Johnson.
