Harley H. Eggenberger, age 93 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Red Wing Health Center. He was born in Lake City on January 2, 1919, to John and Lillian (Burfeind) Eggenberger. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1936. On January 2, 1941, he married Marian Harlan at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City. He joined the United Stated Army in 1944 and served during WWII. In 1958, he and his wife purchased Rose Clothing Store in Lake City. They sold the clothing store in January of 1982 and retired. Marian died on September 5, 1996. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Lake City American Legion Post 110, Lake City Kiwanis Club, he was a founding member of the Lake City Country Club. He served on several boards, Lake City Bank and the Hospital Board. He was inducted into the Lake City Bowling Hall Of Fame.
Harley is survived by a daughter in- law, Sharol Eggenberger of Bloomington, one granddaughter, Shari (Ken) Kawiecki of Richfield; two great grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel; three brothers, Iver (June) Eggenberger, Virgil (Betty) Eggenberger, and Rodney (LaVonne) Eggenberger all of Lake City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Harley is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Eggenberger; one son, Dale Eggenberger; three brothers, Dick, Dallas, and Arvid Eggenberger; infant sister Ardis.
A funeral service will be on Monday, November 5th, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Daniel Kroll officiating. Visitation will Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake City. Memorials are preferred to the St. John's Anniversary Fund. Military Rites will be performed by Lake City VFW Post # 8729 and American Legion Post # 110. Pallbearers will be Jon Eggenberger, Todd Eggenberger, Ken Kawiecki, Tom Eggenberger, Bruce Eggenberger, Ryan Kawiecki and Rachel Kawiecki.
