Harlan M. Hostage age 69 of Zumbrota died on Sunday morning, August 31, 2008 at his home in Zumbrota. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Due to remodeling at United Redeemer Lutheran Church the service will be held at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Susan Vikstrom officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from 4:00 � 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Harlan Marshall Hostager was born on August 30, 1939 in Wanamingo, MN to Manton and Marian (nee Severson) Hostager. He was raised by Nerstrand, MN and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country from 1959 � 1962. He began work at IBM as an Analyst in 1966 and married Patricia Wojtkiewicz on September 2, 1967 in Wykoff, MN. He raised two sons Allan and Erik and welcomed his first grandson Gavin in 2006.
Harlan retired from IBM in 1994 and then graduated from Pine Technical College in 1996 as a gunsmith. He enjoyed his times as a gunsmith and was involved in the Zumbrota Rifle and Gun Club, DNR Loon and Frog Count and the Izaak Walton League. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA and a 25 year member of the Blue Bird Restoration Program.
Harlan enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys, camping and gardening with his wife and spending time with his grandson.
Harlan is survived by his wife Pat, two sons, Allan Hostager of Lakeville and Erik (Tina) Hostager of Zumbrota, grandson, Gavin Hostager, his sister, Mary Liffrig of Kenyon, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manton and Marian and brother Conley. Memorials are suggested to the family.
