Harlan "Harley" Sanford Dodes, 82, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic, Red Wing. He was born November 16, 1937 to Henry and Selma (Svien) Dodes. After graduating from High School Harlan joined the U.S. Army in 1959. On October 3, 1959 married Sharon Stave in Kansas where he was stationed. Following his honorable discharge in 1961 the couple moved to St. Paul where he worked at American Can Company. In 1981 they moved to Red Wing to start a business with their son, Dodes Radiator and Welding.
Harley enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching sports. For many years he played softball on the local Cottage Grove league. He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his little dog, Mikco.
He is survived by his son, Mitch (Julie) of Red Wing; 3 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Lyle; and sisters, Carol and Elaine.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon and his parents.
