Gwyned Aileen Clemens, age 59, of Bay City, Wisconsin, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at her home. She was born on October 13, 1948, in Cooperstown, New York, to Ferris and Alice (Eybrote) Foster. She grew up on Foster Road in Cedarville, New York. She was a 1966 graduate of Mt Markham High School in Winfield, New York. While in high school, she was a recipient of the Congress of Strings Award for violin. She was a graduate of St. Mary's College in Minneapolis. She married Jon Dawley in New York, they moved to Ellsworth, Wisconsin, and later divorced. She married Dennis Clemens on December 3, 1977. She worked for Ellsworth NFO, Red Wing Laundry and for Hygienic Services at the time of her death. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Red Wing. She also was a foster parent; was active with Alcoholics Anonymous; was active with Windows (An addiction recovery program for women); she sponsored AA members; and served on the board for Work Not Welfare, for which she met with President Clinton in Washington. She enjoyed playing the violin, gardening, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and four wheeling.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis; children, Denise (Rod) Knowles of Menahga, Minnesota, Steven (Jean) Clemens of Diamond Bluff, Wisconsin, Jon (Tammy) Clemens of Diamond Bluff, Jeanine (Richard) Holst of Bay City, Jeff Dawley of Crossville, Tennessee, Trever (Christine) Dawley of Pepin, Wisconsin, Inga (Matt) Weierke of Farmington, Rebecca Mataya of Cannon Falls, Denny Clemens of Bay City, and Ashley Dawley of Bay City; her father, Ferris W. Foster of Cedarville, New York; two sisters, Jackie (Bob) Varin of Palatine Bridge, New York, and Laural (Dennis) Hartman of Cedarville; two brothers, Ferris R. Foster of Long Beach, California and Bob (Carol) Alton of Hubbardsville, New York and one aunt Viola Olson of New Brighton, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Erik Gram officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Windows or the donor's choice.
