Gwendolyn Marguerite Comadoll, age 90, of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at her home. She was born on March 9, 1924 in Defiance, Ohio the daughter of William and Veda (Goodwin) Manahan. She attended school in Defiance, Ohio and then continued her education at the University of Indiana and received a degree in History. She married E. James Comadoll on May 5, 1956 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The couple moved to Lake City in 1969. Gwendolyn worked at the Jewel Nurseries until 1993 when she retired. Her husband passed away in 1993. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake City. During the colder months, Gwendolyn would move south to her son's home in Salisbury, North Carolina. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading and spending time with her family. She was very active in her bible study group and knitting group.
Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter: Jane (Kenn) Blattner of Holmen, WI, and her son, Dr. James "Chip" (Kari) Comadoll of Salisbury, NC, 5 grandchildren: Mollie (Adam) McRae, Andrew (Paula)Blattner, Shea Comadoll, Lucas Comadoll, Clint Comadoll and faithful companion Lexie.
She was preceded in death by her husband E. James, two sisters: Elizabeth "Betty" Bailey and Jean Saari and two brothers: Larry Manahan and Fred Manahan.
Memorial service for Gwendolyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Lake City. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Lake City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church, the Lake City Athletic Booster Club, and the Milford Hills United Methodist Church (Salisbury, NC).
