Grace Lucille Romo

August 16, 1917 — July 3, 2012

Grace Lucille Romo, age 94, of Zumbrota, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Zumbrota Health Services. She was born on August 16, 1917, in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, to Archie and Nellie (Swain) Hemenway. In September of 1917 Grace was baptized at United Lutheran Church by Pastor Froiland and was confirmed in May of 1931. She graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1935. On June 8, 1946 she married A. Benoy Romo. Grace earned her food service certificate from the University of North Dakota in 1971. She worked as a food supervisor at the Zumbrota Nursing Home from 1973-1986 until retiring. When she was young, she started taking piano and organ lessons. She played the organ at United Lutheran Church from 1940-1953 and in 1953 at Stordahl Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She participated in the home extension group for many years. She was a member of Stordahl Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips across the United States. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.

Grace is survived by her cousins, and was preceded in death by her husband A. Benoy who died on December 8, 1997.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Stordahl Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathleen Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Stordahl Lutheran Church. www.mahnfamilyfuneral.com
