Gordon Joseph Baker, 82, of Red Wing, died Friday, January 15, 2021 at his home in the Villa, Benedictine Living Community. He was born April 3, 1938 to Oscar and Grace (Evans) Baker in Chilton, Wisconsin. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1956. He joined the National Guard, 998th Engineering Battalion where he built river bridges. He was honorably discharged in 1963. In January of 1964 he married Beverly Siewert in Red Wing. Gordon began driving trucks for various firms before he became an owner/operator with Knudsen Trucking. All said, Gordon spent more than 50 years in the industry.

In his younger years he enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He was a deer hunter and also spent time Elk hunting with friends in Colorado. He enjoyed working in his yard and was very proud of it. (There wasn’t a dandelion on the whole 3 acres.) In his later years he looked after his cats and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Tom (Mary) Ogden of Red Wing, James (Cindy) Ogden of Ellsworth, Lisa (Kelly) Holt of Maiden Rock and Joel Baker of Hager City; 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters; sister, Shelly (Wayne) Holmstadt of Plum City; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; son, Gerald Ogden; grandson, Jessie Ogden; brothers, Terry and Warren Baker; and his parents.
